The chairman of the Imo State Council of Traditional Rulers, His Royal Majesty, Eze SamuelAgunwa Ohiri has expressed reservations over what he described as unnecessary agitations for creation of new Dioceses in the Church of God.
He made his feelings known in an exclusive interview with Christian Voice in Owerri recently.
According to the monarch, who is also a Knight of St. Christopher, not all the agitations are sincere and well intended.
“Let me say this, I don’t think that these agitations translate into evangelism No: Most of these agitations autonomy in the church of God are backed up by negative motives.  Some clergy and by members who want to become Bishops and other high positions instigate the agitations in most cases,” Eze Ohiri laments.
He called on those seeking for new autonomies in the church of God to thread with caution and warned on the effects of negative agitations.
“These unnecessary agitations bring confusions in the church – it is dangerous for the church.  We should be very careful,” the Traditional Ruler warned.
He decried the increasing number of fake prophets and take men of God as well as proliferation of churches in the country and called on Christians not to patronize them.
Eze Ohiri, who was recently honoured with the “DEDICATION TO SERVICE AWARD” by the Anglican Diocese of Owerri expressed gratitude to God for the new Bishop of Owerri, Rt. Rev. Chukwuma Oparah Ph.D, JP, whom he described as a working Bishop.
