Gov Ihedioha moves to provide security for Imo people … Launches Operation Iron Gate

Governor Emeka Ihedioha of Imo State took a bold step in providing security for the state, recently, when he launched Operation Iron Gate and gave 80 new vehicles to security agencies.
The governor, who spoke at the launch of the operation in Owerri, said that a draft bill to set up Security Trust Fund is ready for the State’s House of Assembly to work on.
He said that security of lives and property in the state remained the cardinal agenda of his administration and called on the people of the state to join hands with his administration on rebuilding the state.
Gov. Ihedioha commended security chiefs, heads of local governments and other stakeholders for their contribution to the programme.
According to him, the sole responsibility of government is to provide for the welfare, peace and security of citizens.
He emphasized that it is imperative that the government takes deliberate steps to stop criminals who threaten the peace of the state.
The administration, he said, would partner with private investors to improve security so as to enhance investment and economy of the state.
Ihedioha also acknowledged the battle readiness of the security agencies.
Chairman of the state Security Committee and the state’s Police Commissioner, Mr. Rabiu Ladodo, praised the governor for paying attention to security and assured his best in security the state.
