Orlu Diocese collates 6 Archdeacons, installs 5 Canons

Priests in Orlu Diocese have been urged to be upright in character and behaviour.
The Archbishop/Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Orlu, Most Rev. Bennett C.I. Okoro, Ph.D gave the charge last week during the installation of the Rev. Canons, Jonathan Nanimebila, Chukwukamma Okafor, Christian Ibecheozo, Noble Felix Ihejirika, Ph.D and Ekene Okeke, as Canons of the Cathedral and Collation of the Venerables Dennis Okoro as Archdeacon of the proposed Orlu South Archdeaconry.
Others collated as Archdeacons are, Elijah Dike, Ifeanyi Otika, Medomobi Asole, Gideon Nnanemere and Hyginus Onugha.
The occasion took pace at  the Cathedral Church of SS Peter & John the Divine, Nkwerre.
Speaking at the occasion, the prelate told the newly installed Canons to comply with the laudable customs of the Cathedral Church to obey the requirements of its statutes and to cooperate in the maintenance of its rights and privileges and to diligently study, meditate and preach truly the Word of God to the people.
Archbishop Okoro advised the newly collated Archdeacons to stand in righteousness and holiness and prayed God to increase their grace to discharge their duties to the glory of God.
He, however, reminded the House of Clergy that every priest cannot be preferred a Canon or an Archdeacon rather they should see their preferment as elevation from God.
Preaching at the service, the Archdeacon of Njaba Archdeaconry and Vicar of Nnenasa Parish, Venerable Uchenna Tochukwu Ahams, cautioned the new Canons and Archdeacons not to be vindictive especially to young priests under them nor autocratic, to respect their serious in the cadre.
Archdeacon Ahams, who is also the Chaplain of Council of Ezinna in the Diocese, also told them not be driven by pride, never to lobby for promotion.
Highlights of the occasion were the naming of two station churches in the Diocese and appointment of Barr. Dozie Okorongwu, as the new Diocesan Legal Secretary, and melodious renditions by the Cathedral Choir.
