Be prepared for storms of life – Archdeacon tells Christians at Canon Opurum’s thanksgiving

By Gid Ahanonu

Christians have been advised to always be prepared for the storms of life.
The Archdeacon of Orodo, Ven. S.U.N. Duruji, Ph.D, gave the charge while preaching the sermon during the collation thanksgiving service of Rev. Canon Davidson Opurum at the Christ’s Anglican Church, Umuonyiahu, Orodo in the Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State.
He called on the faithful to anchor their hope for deliverance and salvation on Christ, especially when faced with life challenges, stressing that God works in mysterious ways.
The Archdeacon, who noted that the path for following Christ was not always smooth, also called for perseverance among the people of God and enjoined them   their burden on God who gives hop to the hopeless.
Ven. Duruji described the celebrant as a loyal, respectful, prayerful and diligent pastor who did not allow distractions to make him lose focus.
He narrated Canon Opurum’s calling as a minister and revealed that he started as a church teacher many years ago and expressed gratitude to God for restoring him to the rank of a Canon.
In his testimony, the celebrant, Canon Opurum, said that the occasion was an opportunity to thank and praise God for His grace.
He advised his colleagues with similar experience to patiently wait and pray for God’s intervention in their affairs.
The first and second lessons of the service were read by the celebrant’s wife, Mrs. Chinyere Opurum and the celebrant himself, respectively.
The highlight of the event was the launching of a book entitled “The Bedrock of Christian Testimony” written by the celebrant.
The occasion witnessed a large turnout of attendants from far and near.
