We’ll reposition Imo Health care sector soon – Imo Health Commissioner

By Chukwudi IkpeThe Imo State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Vin Udokwu, has expressed the determination of the state government, led by Gov. Emeka Ihedioha, to reposition the health sector of the state and provide better healthcare for Imo citizens.
He made this known during an interview with journalists in his office in Owerri on Monday.
Dr. Udogwu pointed out that Gov. Ihedioha means well for Imo people, adding that the state government, through the Ministry of Health, is studying and articulating the Transition Technical Committee’s development blueprint on health, with a view to implementing it for improved healthcare for Imolites.
According to him, Imo State will pay the counterpart fund of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) to enable it to cue into the scheme.
The commissioner, who has served previous governments in the health sector, also disclosed that his ministry recently concluded a stakeholders’ meeting aimed at sensitizing health institutions and the other stakeholders on the Imo State Health Insurance
