By Nick Chibunna

A 30-year-old business man Mr. Paul (other names withheld), has drowned at a dam in Inyishi, in the Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State.
The incident, which shocked the residents of the area, saw hundreds of sympathizers trooping to the scene of the disaster to catch a glimpse of the man.
The dam is one of the Federal Government’s abandoned projects in Imo State.
The victim, said to be an identical twin from a town in Owerri North Local Government  Area of Imo State, went to the dam to swim with his twin brother when the incident occurred.
According to his brother who survived, both of them left their family home to Inyishi Ikeduru on a business trip on the fateful day after breakfast.
He told Christian Voice that after a hectic business day they decided to cool off at the Inyishi dam where his twin brother got drowned.
The man, who was in shock when he spoke, said that both of them swam against the tide. The water current unfortunately pulled his late twin brother to the deepest part of the river.
He said that all efforts to save his brother proved abortive as the tide also attempted to pull both of them along, but he miraculously swam to safety.
He said that he went out to alert the residents of the area, but before help could come, his brother had already drowned.
Also, the father of the victim, (names withheld) expressed his shock and simply said that he could not comprehend the situation.
When Christian Voice called at the traditional ruler of the autonomous community, Eze Andrew Osuji, he also expressed shock and described the incident as strange.
He said that he had directed the president-general of the community, Prince Morgan Okoroafor, and the Oji Ofor of the kindred where the incidence took place, Nze Ben Okoro, to do the needful in order to restore peace in the area.
