Anglican women declare war on ‘spirit of Jezebel’

The Asaba Diocesan Anglican Women Organisation (ADAWO) rose from their Four-Day Retreat at the Ibru Retreat Centre Agbarha-otor recently with a firm resolution and determination to deal with the spirit of Jezebel.
The women, made up of the Clergy, Catechists and other Church Workers wives with the Exco of Mothers’ Union and Women’s Guild and led by the Bishop’s wife, Mrs T.C. Mogekwu had their annual retreat at the Ibru Centre Agbarha-otor recently  with the Theme, “DEALING WITH THE SPIRIT OF JEZEBEL” with the Bible text taken from Revelation 2:20-23 and 1st kings 21:1-15.
Through a series of meditation, Bible study and exposition, sermons and talks, the women came to see the force behind a display of insidious, manipulative and evil tendencies manifest in the Biblical Jezebel (both the wife of Ahab in 2Kings and the woman of Thyatira in Revelation) as spirit of Jezebel which has been fingered as being responsible for not only tearing down churches, pastors and different Christian ministries but also for breaking up of many marriages, friendships, companies; as well as getting people to become covetous, commit cold blooded murders and suicides. The women were guided on how to identify the traits of Jezebel spirit in the church and their lives and decisively deal with it.
The Retreat accorded the women a great opportunity to reflect upon their lives and identify the roles they have in the life that God has planned for them.
The Resource Persons for the programme included Revd Canon Ovie Ekpewu, Dr, Mrs  A. Ogbene, Evangelist Isaac Emmanuel and the Diocesan Women’s Chaplain, Revd Canon Isaac Tarnaha.
The programme also featured daily Holy Communion officiated by the Women’s Chaplain and the Ibru Centre’s clergy, prayers, praise and worship sessions, group discussions and plenary presentation and various sporting activities including swimming.
The annual retreat is aimed at promoting strong Christian and spiritual life to build a strong Christian home, raise Godly children and to raise nation builders.
