PDP Ward 1 New Owerri mourn chairman’s death

Members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Owerri Municipal have paid a condolence visit to the family of their chairman, Late Okechukwu Oparah, who died recently.
The party leader in the Municipal, Chief (Sir) Dr. Christian Oweaya Anukam, who led the condolence team, described the death of Oparah, fondly called Oprah, as painful.
He urged the wife of the deceased to hold on to God and reassured her and her children that the party will not abandon them.
The late Sir Oparah was the PDP chairman in Owerri Municipal as well as one of Gov. Emeka Ihedioha’s strong aides.
Chief Anukam, the Agbawo-dike-Izu Owerri, later presided over a meeting of the party members where he sued for peace.
According to him, the party has resolved to ensure peace and high level of cooperation at the state, local government, zone and grassroots, levels.
He decried a situation where the party would be in chaos, especially in the period of mourning Oprah.
Oparah, he said, died on active service and served in several capacities.
The members resolved to be meeting in Chief Anukam’s residence to strengthen bonds and to ensure that they accord their fallen colleague his full respect.
At the meeting were the LGA executive members, including Hon. Benneth Mere, Comrade Onyi Ejihe Lekwuwa, Mrs. Anokwu Ifeoma, Chief A.A. Enweremadu, Hon. Anozike Sylvanus and Hon. Ken Njoku, who is the acting chairman in the LGA, among others.
