He noted that the people of Imo State voted overwhelmingly for PDP and maintained that Ihedioha was the rightful winner of the 2019 governorship election in Imo.

“The 2019 election was duly and diligently conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC. The people of Imo State, who for so many reasons desperately wanted a change, voted PDP into power. INEC in honesty and transparency in pursuit of its duty as the electoral arbiter declared Rt Hon. Emeka Ihedioha of PDP the winner. Emeka Ihedioha scored the highest number of votes and fulfilled all the other constitutional requirements. This decision was received with very loud ovation by Imo people who desperately wanted to have a new beginning”, Iwuanyanwu further stated.

He however maintained that the party will not accept any attempt   to prejudge the verdict of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, stressing that the party has absolute confidence in the Supreme Court to uphold justice.

“We will therefore not take the lawless part of declaring any party as the winner; rather as law abiding citizen, we will abide by the verdict of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
