APC’s Muslim-Muslim ticket: Knights back CAN

The Knights of St. Mulumba, of the Catholic Church have thrown their weight behind the rejection of the same-faith ticket adopted by the APC Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2023 general elections.
Speaking to journalists in Abuja the working Metropolitan Grand Knight of St. Mulumba, Michael Aule, said that the Council is in support of whatever position the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) had taken on the APC’s Muslim-Muslim ticket.
Sir Aule pointed out that they were members of the CAN and that the organisation’s decision is equally theirs.
He said that the Knights would, this week, meet at their Supreme Council Convention to discuss the role of the Church in the advocacy and promotion of peace, equity, justice and development in the democratic transition of Nigeria.
The convention, which he said would be attended by more than 350 delegates, will also be honoured by the presence of the Papal Nuncio to Nigeria, the Archbishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Abuja, all the Bishops in Abuja Province, among others.
His Eminence, John Cardinal Onaiyekan will deliver a paper at the convention.
Sir Aule said that the Council does not regulate the activities of their brothers in politics. He, however, encouraged anyone of them who is interested to join politics.
